To develop and increase the use of the library and participation in its educational and cultural projects;
To focus attention on library services and needs;
To maintain an association of individuals interested in books and libraries;
To stimulate gifts of books, magazine subscriptions, audiovisuals, endowments, trusts, bequests, and other donations of money, materials, and volunteer time;
To confer with the Board of Trustees of the library on matters relating to the support and welfare of that institution.
Status:
The Friends of the Wilson County Public Library has been accorded Section 501(c)(3) status as a nonprofit organization by the Internal Revenue Service.
Organization:
The Friends of the Library is governed by a Board of Directors chosen from the membership of the organization for terms of three years. Three consecutive terms (9 years) may be served before retiring from the board. The Board oversees the programs, projects, and financial status of the Friends; appoints committees to provide for the efficient management of the affairs of the organization; and raises funds through contributions, membership dues, endowment gifts, and other legal means.
